The NSB-DWM worked to assess contaminant levels from global pollution sources in North Slope wildlife used for subsistence foods.

We also looked at nutrient levels of bowhead whales especially. We learned more about how contaminants and nutrient related chemicals tell us about our food web, environment, and the animals we use.

Our studies help provide the factual documentation of the subsistence needs of North Slope Borough (NSB) residents.
